LES MILLS FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH™ will soon be available live in clubs, and now on LES MILLS+.
LES MILLS FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH uses a variety of equipment, including a barbell, a selection of weights, a SMARTSTEP® bench and a SMARTBAND® resistance band. If you don’t have all the equipment, you can make do with just dumbbells or weight plates and a resistance band during the warmup (a rolled-up towel can be used instead).
LES MILLS FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH is ideal if you are looking at taking your training to the next level. It focuses on training hard and challenging your body with new movements and combinations to improve power and athleticism. There are options for all abilities. We recommend starting with light weights so you can get a feel for the movement patterns in the beginning.
Like with any strength training, aim for no more than 2-3 strength workouts a week, ideally with rest days between.
LES MILLS FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH is complementary to other strength workouts, such as BODYPUMP® and LES MILLS STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT™. Whatever type of strength training you choose, we recommend no more than a total of 2-3 strength training workouts a week. For the ideal combo, match your strength workouts with some cardio sessions and avoid strength training on consecutive days.
