With all that's been going on in the world, mental health is more important than ever. Of course, our physical and mental health are intertwined – so staying fit and active is one of the easiest ways to maintain emotional and cognitive resilience. For this reason alone, Instructors and Club Partners can play a key role in helping communities stay mentally strong – and in some instances, even save a life; Les Mills Presenter Dee Rowell can attest to that. 

Unfortunately, struggles with mental health are non-discriminatory; they can impact anyone, anytime. The key to helping those around you starts with a conversation. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener. The four steps to having a conversation that could change a life are: 

  1. Ask R U OK? 
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check in.
